While making sure all our sanding is done to National Wood Flooring Association (NWFA) standards, we begin the sanding process with a 10” belt sander, 36 grit to 80 grit sandpaper. We then use a 7” disc sander called an Edger for the edges, 50 grit and 100 grit. The final sanding is done with a 16” polisher, 100 grit to 120 grit. The machine we use for final sanding is what makes the floor look free of any marks put in by the previous machines, and leaves you with a pristine, smooth floor. We want to assure that the natural beauty of the wood is seen instead of unsightly sander marks, which could make the floor look splotchy. We use sanders with dustless sanding systems to help minimize how much dust is emitted throughout the refinishing process.
Once we are finished sanding, we finish your flooring with the use of professional grade stains and finishes that are only sold to contractors. We prefer to use DuraSeal and Bona products which will give you a long-lasting, beautiful floor. A minimum of three coats of stain are used to finish the floor. More coats can be applied upon request. Once our work is done, you are left with the a beautiful, durable floor.
